Bloomfall: A New Storybook Roleplaying Game

Bloomfall is a tabletop roleplaying game for 2-6 players and one Narrator where you play as students at Promethean Academy, a mysterious boarding school on a verdant barrier island. Through storybook-style adventures & solo excursions, you will face strange and menacing creatures, deepen your relationship with nature, and endeavor to prevent disaster at the school.

Roll dice and spend Tilth Tokens as you discover portals to The Elsewhere, an unsettling world of magical trees that peer into other realms, shrubs that steal away emotions, and fruit that resemble tiny human heads. You'll need to rally your character's Gifts and unique Backstory to guard the balance between worlds. Fail, and you’ll be sent away—forever.

The Bloomfall guidebook includes 12 complete adventures set over the four seasons of a school year. Bloomfall adventures take the form of interactive storybooks, with key chapters and arcs that players explore within to tell their own version of the story of Promethean Academy. These adventures are designed to be extremely accessible for new GMs, yet still compelling for experienced players.

Between sessions, Bloomfall players conduct solo excursions. These are short, creative activities inspired by real-world nature — a guided “solo-journaling” game that invites you to notice the plant life around you, and bring real details back to each session. Your observations will then be used to build the world of Bloomfall, and deepen the story of your characters.

Designed by award-winning game designers Sharang Biswas and Yeonsoo Julian Kim in collaboration with LabX at the National Academy of Sciences, Bloomfall connects the magic and mystery of nostalgic children’s adventure literature with real botany, biology, and naturalism.
